Goodwin Genealogy

The Genealogy of the Goodwin Family

First I would like to thank my dad, George F. Goodwin, who spent hundreds of hours researching the roots of our family.

"The dividing of the genealogies into several parts enables those ancestors who have left their footprints recorded in the many books and records that I have used to be included first, while those who have been very elusive will be covered later when time and records are found.
I have had many frustrating moments trying to track down my Goodwin ancestors, but again it has been most rewarding when I finally found a source that enabled me to complete this genealogy" By George F. Goodwin.

The surname Goodwin, possibly derived from the ancient forename Godwin (see Libby, Noyes and Davis Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshier, pp. 270ff) is a common one in the English midlands. Several emigrants by this name appeared in New England: William and Ozias in Hartford, CT (1632), Christopher in Charlestown, MA, Richard in Gloucester, MA and Daniel in Kittery, ME.
